Winemaking Notes: This Old Vine Grenache comes from the Testa Vineyard in Southern Mendocino County. Testa has some of the oldest organic vines in the North Coast (vines 90 years old). The grapes were picked by hand, destemmed without crushing, and cold soaked for 5 days. Each lot is fermented in small open-top tanks, punch-down by hand, and aged in French Oak barrels (10% new). This wine is not fined or filtered.

Horse & Plow Testa Grenache Tasting Notes: Lovely notes of cherry and vanilla, wild herbs and black plum compose this bright and fruity red with plenty of spice to balance.

About Testa Vineyard: Testa Vineyard is located in Calpella, in Southern Mendocino County. The vineyard was planted in 1912 by Gaetano and Maria Testa using Belgian draft horses, and today is farmed by their great grandchildren, Maria and Rusty. The family takes great pride in maintaining the vineyards, where they employ labor intensive, old world, organic farming techniques. The vineyard is dry farmed and the gnarled, head trained vines are forced to root deeply- resulting in concentrated wines with exceptional character.
