About the Wine: DB4 is meticulously crafted and blended by Bryant's winemaking team to create an exceptional wine that can be enjoyed immediately with proper decanting or in the future. The 2011 DB4 combines the expressive benchmark terrior of Bryant's estate with a compelling blend of fruit produced in David Abreu’s vineyards: Madrona, Thorevilos, and Lucia Howell Mountain. This wine has been a favorite since its inaugural release in 2007, as it captures the Bryant Family style at an affordable price point.

Winemaker, Todd Alexander’s Tasting Notes: "Aromatic components of the 2011 DB4 include blueberries, cherries, cassis, mocha, dried tobacco, herbs and fleeting notes of smashed mint leaves. Round and full but well-balanced, fine tannins frame this already very approachable, seductive beauty. It will drink well for the next 10 years but can be enjoyed now with a minimum 30 minute decant."

About the Estate: Bryant Family Vineyard located on rocky Sobrante soils overlooking Lake Hennessey at the northern end of Pritchard Hill. The west-facing slope just below the ridge top is perfectly sited to capture prevailing cool lake breezes, while providing protection from drying canyon winds. The combination of soil, sunlight, cool breezes, rockiness, soil depth, and meticulous farming yield wines of exceptional quality. Read more on Napa's Pritchard Hill.

Bryant Family Vineyard 2011 'DB4' (Red Bordeaux Blend), Napa Valley
Rating: 93

Is it possible that the 2011 DB4 might turn out better than the two flagships? Sage, rosemary, tobacco, menthol, sweet spices and red berries meld together in an exquisite, gracious wine loaded with finesse and class. Bright red berries, rose petals, mint and crushed rocks add energy on the finish. The style is medium in body, but there is plenty of energy and cut to ensure years of fine drinking. Today, the DB4 challenges Bryant's top wines. I am not sure that will always be the case, but today, the DB4 is terrific. In 2011, the blend heavily favors Merlot, which was the strongest variety in that year across the board. The blend is 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot.
