Josefina Piñol Blanco is an estate-bottled wine made by the Piñol family located in the high elevation vineyards of Terra Alta, south of Barcelona. Josefina Piñol Blanco Dulce is often called “the olive oil wine” because of the shape of the bottle. It is made with Garnacha grapes harvested later in the season from vines over eighty-five years old. Josefina is fermented naturally to 13%. Once fermentation is finished, the skins are distilled to make a high quality grappa used to increase the overall alcohol content of the wine to 15%.
Tasting Notes: Josefina Pinol Blanco Dulce is a medium sweet wine with aromas and flavors of orange marmalade. It has good acidity and balance and should pair well with fruit desserts. The wine is a great pairing for goat cheese and quince, fresh fruits and tarts, and softer cheeses with nutty flavors.

Vinos Pinol (500 ml) 2011 'Josefina Pinol' Dulce Blanco (Garnacha Blanca), Terra Alta DO
Rating: 90
The 2011 Josefina Pinol Vi Dolc is a late-harvest, sweet, fortified mistelle with 15% alcohol and 220 grams of sugar. It has a bright orange color and an explosive nose of candied orange peel, balsamic notes of bay leaf and white pepper with hints of green and black olives, quite complex and different. The palate is unctuous and round, very sweet, with low acidity, good integration of the alcohol and quite sweet. It should be indestructible. Drink now-2025.
