Tasting Notes: Filippi's base multi-vineyard estate Soave named for the neighboring town. Made from the Garganega grape which is rare for Soave, this wine is a light straw color with brilliant clarity. Aromas of white flowers in a rock garden. Very wet on the palate with umami Chablis/Muscadet-like texture. The mineral and nutty finish is cleaned up nicely for the fresh, zesty, natural acid. Grilled shellfish for days, but don't forget the other white meat.

Filippi 2011 'Castelcerino' Soave DOC
Rating: 88

Racy acidity imparts real zip to this balanced version with ripe papaya, honey, yellow plum, blood orange and saline-tinged mineral. Drink now through 2016.

Filippi 2011 'Castelcerino' Soave DOC
Rating: 88

Two impressive Soaves include the 2011 Soave Castelcerino, a 3,000-case, stainless steel-aged, crisp, seriously endowed, surprisingly lush textured and expansively flavored effort. This dry, medium-bodied white is loaded with notes of caramelized grapefruit, orange zest, lemon oil and wet rocks. Drink this attractive Soave over the next several years.
