1889, the world’s first glögg liqueur, is based on Martin Geijer’s generations old Swedish family glögg recipe dating back to his ancestor Maria Charlotta (born in 1889). Glögg is the Swedish version of the German glühwein, the Norwegian and Danish gløgg, the Finish glögi, the British Mulled Wine, and the French vin chaud. With the breakthrough development of Glögg liqueur, it is now possible to enjoy the flavors of glögg all year long. This liqueur uses distilled spirits as a base, rather than red wine, making it possible to use for both summer drinks and holiday cocktails. The spicy and sweet notes of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon give a new depth to existing cocktails, and allow for new creative concoctions. 1889 blends equally well with bourbon as it does gin, or for the more adventurous, mixing with bitters or rum offers a distinctive new taste.

1889 is flavored with the purest natural and traditional botanicals. Less than ten natural ingredients are used to create this wonderfully spiced liqueur, and no additives of any sort have been added. Sometimes the liqueur can show signs of clouding; this is perfectly normal and is a sign that no chemicals or preservatives have been used in production.

Distilling: Geijer Glögg is distilled at St. George Spirits, a fantastic artisan distillery in Alameda, California. St George produces and bottles the product. The product is carefully made in small batches in German copper pot stills to allow for maximum flavor retention and the use of the purest products possible.

Geijer Glogg 1889 Glögg Liqueur (40 proof)
Rating: 89

(Silver Medal) Golden amber color. Attractive aromas of mulling spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg) and cranberry-pomegranate sorbet with a silky, fruity light-to-medium body and a delicately pepper wave of cinnamon-lead brown spices, nuts, and minerals on the finish. A pleasant and even spiced liqueur.
