Lucy is a bright and fresh Pinot Noir Rosé crafted by the Pisoni Family from their vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands.
It is a great wine with a great purpose. The Pisoni family has always been committed to making exceptional wines, and Lucy
allows them to combine this passion with philanthropy. The Pisoni family donates one dollar of each bottle sold to Breast
Cancer Research. Since inception, over $65,000 has been raised for this cause.
Vintage Notes: 2013 follows 2012 as another year of mother nature over delivering in terms of healthy yields and high quality. The season in the Santa Lucia Highlands started out with a dry winter. This stresses the vines, being beneficial for flavor intensity. The wines have a significant concentration, but also a great deal of energy, natural acidity and longevity.
Vineyard Information: The Lucy Rosé is from a blend of Pinot Noir grapes harvested from the Pisoni Santa Lucia Highlands. The multiple vineyard sites contribute an added complexity to the wine in both aromatics and texture. The cool weather from the Santa Lucia Highlands, however, is the critical factor to maintaining the bright acidity in this rosé. Winemaking Notes: The Lucy Rosé is made utilizing the saignée process. After a period of very short “skin contact,” where the
juice absorbs only a slight amount of color from the Pinot Noir
berries, a small amount of grape juice is drained from the recently
filled fermentation tank. The juice is then fermented in both
neutral oak barrels for texture and stainless steel barrels for focus
and aromatics. This rosé undergoes no malolactic fermentation in
order to maintain its bright acidity. Tasting Notes: Light strawberry in color, the 2013 Lucy
Rosé is fresh and bright with highlights of rose petal, near-ripe
strawberry, orange peel and seashells. The palate is crisp
with refreshing acidity, indicating a wonderful
pair with a wide variety of dishes and occasions.
Enjoy chilled.
