Tasting Notes: Light pink in color, similar to Rosés done in the Provencal style.Fresh scents of nectarine and fresh berries on the nose. Flavors of fresh berries along with grape fruit and a satisfying minerality. Perfect for a summer day!
About the Rheinhessen: Until the 1980s, this large and varied growing region in Germany had a reputation for exporting inexpensive wine of middling quality. But since then, yield limits and quality control have led to an increasingly distinctive output of wines, mostly made from Riesling, with Silvaner, Muller-Thurgau, Spatburgunder, and Dornfelder making up the rest. In fact, conditions and soil here are capable of producing quite exceptional wines. The Permian red shale soil and sloping vineyards of the Roter Hang section in the east is internationally recognized for its Rieslings. The region is protected from wind and rain by a string of hills on its western border. The weather near the Rhine river is sunnier and warmer than much of the rest of the country, and the area is also generally safe from frost and humidity. Characteristics in the wines tend to be peach, citrus, and a distinctive smoked meat. A significant number of Germany’s pioneers in organic and biodynamic have come from this region.
