This is the southernmost holding in the Fourrier Domaine, a superbly placed vineyard in the village of Vougeot. Fourrier owns 0.34 hectare and the vines were planted both in 1930 and 1955. The vineyard sits to the immediate north of the prime section of Clos Vougeot and turns into the Petits Musigny Vineyard of Chambolle.

Domaine Fourrier 2011 Vougeot 1er Cru, Les Petits Vougeots, AOC
Rating: 91(+?)
Medium red. Lovely high-pitched cherry and spice perfume. Juicy, intense and sharply delineated, with red licorice, spice and crushed stone flavors complicated by a whiff of soil. This has 2010-like acidity and inner-mouth tension along with excellent density and sweet tannins. Precise, dry and very long--and in need of patience.

Domaine Fourrier 2011 Vougeot 1er Cru, Les Petits Vougeots, AOC
Rating: (90-92)
A firm, poised wine, the 2011 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeots shows darker tonalities of red fruit and a cool, inward steeliness that is highly appealing. Mint, licorice, cedar and sweet tobacco are layered into the poised finish. Readers will need to be patient here, as the 2011 needs time to soften from its tightly wound stage. There is a real inner strength here. At the same time, the sweet, floral flavors are very Chambolle-like in their seductiveness.
