The Gardener Chardonnay Winemaking Notes: This Chardonnay comes from the Don Miguel Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. It was hand-picked, whole cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts in French Oak barrels (30% new). The lees were stirred throughout malolactic fermentation. The wine aged for 9 months sur lie.
The Gardener Chardonnay Tasting Notes: Shows a lovely nose of lemon curd and hazelnut, quite austere on the palate with a vein of minerality through the ripe pear and quince flavors.
Vineyard Information: Don Miguel Vineyard is west of Graton, deep in the western Russian River Valley. Quality of the grapes is exceptional, and are gently handled to best express the nature of the wine. Winery founder Marimar Torres says, "The whole idea is to create an ideal balance between the vines and nature. The vineyard will be ecologically healthier, and the grapes of higher quality. That’s our long-term reward."

This is a fine Chardonnay that's brisk with acidity and dry, yet rich with flavors of tropical fruits, green apples, hazelnuts and toasty oak. There's also a minerality that extends the finish beautifully. You might want to give it a year or two in the cellar. The grapes are from Marimar Torres's esteemed Don Miguel Vineyard.
