Pinot Blanc is often assumed to be a “blender” or at best an unassuming white wine. Not so with Michigan grown Pinot Blanc. This grape loves Michigan's cool climate and sandy soils. It is able to ripen an expression of powerful aromatics and intense fruity length while maintaining a buzzing acidity which keeps it fresh. About Island View Vineyard: This vineyard sits in the heart of Old Mission Peninsula. Planted in 1995 it has become the most renown single vineyards on the Peninsula. The row orientation is east/west. This gives the southern side of the vines a full day exposure to the sun. The north and south sections are picked independently with blending decisions coming later. Grower Werner Kuehnis puts his Swiss raised ideals of perfection to practice among the 1,100 vines. This man loves work, and he loves wine. It is difficult to distinguish which he prefers. He has become a model for viticultural excellence in Michigan; he is a dedicated grape grower with many great vintages under his belt.
