About DuBrul Vineyard: Hugh and Kathy Shiels planted DuBrul
Vineyard and meticulously maintain their hilltop vines in the cooler,
western end of the Yakima Valley of Washington. The depth of flavor and
concentration are unlike any that we have come across in the West Coast
due to the growing area, severity of pruning, and minuscule yields.
Winemaking Notes: The fruit is picked when taste alone determines the ripeness. Once in
the winery, Owen Roe uses the most minimal handling practices to ensure
the highest level of quality in each barrel. This DuBrul Chardonnay is
made in a similar style as the Columbia Valley Chardonnay: roughly 6
months in barrel, about 25% malolactic fermentation, and 50% new
French oak adds expansive creaminess and complexity to this
mineral-laden, crisply textured Chardonnay. Tasting Notes: The Owen Roe Chardonnay from DuBrul Vineyard showcases aromas of red Anjou pear, pineapple, sweet corn and toasty brioche leads to a leaner, more mineral driven palate. Flavors of lemon curd, lime pithe and wet cement. Light, fresh with singing acidity and a clean finish.
the 2012
DuBrul Vineyard Chardonnay shows great length, aromatics and mid-palate
texture.

Owen Roe 2012 Chardonnay, Dubrul Vineyard, Yakima Valley
Rating: 92
Good bright pale yellow. Lovely vibrant nose combines grapefruit, lemon, essential oils and botanical herbs, lifted by a floral element. Dense and silky without any excess weight, offering nicely delineated flavors of citrus fruits, pear and minerals. Still a bit youthfully imploded, this excellent chardonnay finishes with a slightly phenolic quality and noteworthy precision and length. This no-malo wine benefits from lively acidity.

Combines deft balance with explosive flavor, offering layers of
pear, white peach, floral and crème fraîche that sail smoothly
over refined acidity into a long and expressive finish. Drink now
through 2017.
