Winemaking Notes: Vines are grown from vineyards plated in 1978 on granite soil , on a site located next to the Mino river in Galicia. Fermentation happens naturally with indigenous yeast. The grapes macerate at cool temperature for a half day, then the wine is aged in steel tanks. Tasting Notes: Exotic notes of pineapples, peaches, honeysuckle, with fresh acidity, minerality and a medium body.
Food Pairing Suggestion: Albariño’s crisp clean flavors are extremely versatile. Seafood, clams,
oysters are what the local Galician people eat with this queenly grape.
It also pairs like magic with Sushi, Indian, or Thai. Try Steamed Clams with Spicy Italian Sausage and Fennel About Galicia: Spain’s wettest region, on the northwest Atlantic, is home to many DOs: Rías Baixas, Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei, and Valdeorras. Culturally, the region is closer to Portugal than to Madrid. Locals speak Gallego, which has much in common with Portuguese. Likewise, much of the wine is a kin to Portugal’s Vinho Verde. The Albariño grape in Rías Baixas is producing some of the most notable whites in Spain, while reds from the region are also slowly gaining ground.
