About the Wine: Nebbiolo is at the heart of the great Piedmont wines. The Tenute Sella 'Majoli' Rosé is made from the same classic Nebbiolo grapes that go into their
red wines. The result is a product of great character, that thus
preserving the features of the grapes reshapes them in a modern take.
Piedmont 2012 Vintage: A vintage to be
remembered for its alternating weather anomalies: warm and very dry in
April and May, then the endless sequence of rains in June and July,
then again the constantly hot weather in August and September that led
to an early harvest with many vineyards at risk of water stress. Also because of a hailstorm in early July - here and
there-devastating - the yields were lower than the average; very ripe
grapes brought well structured but balanced wines, with a reasonable
alcohol content.
'Majoli' Rosato Winemaking Notes:
Destemming - crushing
95% from soft pressing, successive 36 hours of cold pre-fermentation maceration (4° C) with the use of dry ice and 5% from the drainage of the total mass of Nebbioli of Bramaterra
to follow slow fermentation for 26 days at a low temperature (13° C). No malolactic fermentation. Wine aged for six months in stainless steel vats.
