About Erbaluce Grape: 'Doranda' is made from 100% Erbaluce. Erbaluce is the most typical white grape of Northern Piedmont. The grape reaches a rich structure and intensity. To bring out its distinctive aromas, Tenute Sella makes a varietal wine with an extended maceration on the skins.

Piedmont 2012 Vintage Notes: A vintage to be remembered for its alternating weather anomalies: warm and very dry in April and May, then the endless sequence of rains in June and July, then again the constantly hot weather in August and September that led to an early harvest with many vineyards at risk of water stress. Also because of a hailstorm in early July - here and there-devastating - the yields were lower than the average; very ripe grapes brought well structured but balanced wines, with a reasonable alcohol content.

Vineyard Source: Grapes sourced from vined slopes on the Tenute Sella Bramaterra Estate in the municipality of Villa del Bosco and on the hills of the municipality of Lessona.

Tenute Sella 'Doranda' Winemaking Notes: Grapes destemmed, then crushed with 42 hours of cold pre-fermentation maceration (4° C) with the use of dry ice. Slow fermentation occurred for 30 days at a low temperature (13° C). No malolactic fermentation. Wine refined for six months in stainless steel vats and bottled on March 18, 2013.
