About the Region: Cerasuolo di Vittoria was the first Sicilian red wine to win DOC recognition in 2005. Its roots are very ancient. To trace its production, one must go back to the year 1600 when the city of Vittoria was founded by Vittoria Colonna, who promised two hectares of land to the first 75 colonists on the condition that each plant a vineyard. This contributed to starting the wine business that has been very active to this day.

International Wine Report
"The Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a blend of Nero d'Avola 70%, Frappato 30%. A Medium to full bodied wine with notes of cherry, herbs, mineral, licorice and floral. This is light on its feet with a solid structure and finish. Cerasuolo di Vittoria is an Italian wine DOCG of Sicily, covering the intensely colored red wines from the eastern end of the island's south coast. Introduced in September 2005, it was the very first DOCG in Sicily, having also been one of the first DOCs on the island when it was granted that status back in 1973."

Wine Enthusiast 3/2013
"One of the leading wineries in the Cerasuolo di Vittoria appellation, Valle dell'Acate delivers an elegant and feminine expression with bright aromas of blue flower, forest fruit and almond paste. The wine's natural freshness would stand up nicely to ricotta ravioli."
