Viticulture: This Pinot Noir is produced in the southern most vineyard in Chile, approximately 650 km - 400 miles - south of Santiago, in Traiguén area. Vines grown on own rootstock.

Winemaking Notes: Destemmed, cold soaked, fermentation for 8 days, 3 punchdowns per day, 100% malolactic fermentation in barrel, aged 12 months in barrel, no fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes: The cold weather during the maturation period of the grapes, alow to produce this wine with a great fruity aroma like cherries and sour cherries. The aging in French oak barrels during 12 months keeps its complexity, a good balance, a fresh taste and a long fruit persistence.

Valley Information: Located 400 miles south of Santiago, Malleco is currently Chile's southernmost appellation. This valley was original explored as a test in the early 90s. The area has proven exceptional for Chardonnay and promising for Pinot Noir, although high rainfall and a shorter growing season make the area risky for most other varieties.

"Medium red. Spicy redcurrant and dried cherry scents are complicated by dried rose and blood orange. Juicy and penetrating, offering lively red fruit liqueur flavors and a hint of smokiness. Finishes brisk, sweet and long, with silky tannins and lingering red fruit and floral notes."
