Country of Origin: Italy Location: Tre Stelle, Barbaresco People: Giovanna Rizzolio & Italo Sobrino, Owners
In the silence of the countryside filled with voices, perfumes and images from the past which belong to the heritage of every man, immersed among the vines producing the generous Barbaresco, lives Cascina delle Rose: small farm house built by an ancient farmer over 100 years ago. Walls made of solid stones, two wells for water, the stable, the hay loft, the wood shed, the wheat barn, a cool cellar and a yard protected from the wind. A few rooms for the guests and the most breathtaking, colorful scenery for meditation: the Rio Sordo valley with its small train station, the neat vineyards on the hillside. In the background a string of majestic castles from La Morra to Asti. On the horizon the Alps from the Monviso to the Monte Rosa.
Maybe that ancient farmer already knew that one day his small abode was going to wake up right in the middle of the most well known and appreciated territory of this region.
The soil is characterized by layers of compact bluish limestone mars. The stratification is dense and varied, rich in minerals and natural springs.
