Bodini stands for "Built on Dreams of Individuals Not Institutions." This is a wine that is built upon the dreams of all those involved in crafting these amazing wines: the dreams of the vineyard and winery teams to do their part to preserve the earth and environment through sustainable viticulture & winemaking practices, the dreams of the winery to promote the well-being of its workers, their families, the community and future generations, and the dreams of a young, up-and-coming winemaker.
A portion of all Bodini wine sales are also donated to the Dominio del Plata Scholarship Foundation which was established to help fulfill the dream of a college education to winery worker families throughout Argentina.
About the Winemaker: José Lovaglio is a young, third generation winemaker. At the age of 18, he enrolled at University of California at Davis and in 2008 he graduated with a degree in oenology from UC Davis. After college, he moved to China where he continued his wine education at Beijing Normal University. While in China, José worked for ASC Fine Wines, China’s largest distributor of fine wines, and also as a staff trainer and Sommelier for the Westin Hotel in Beijing.
Before becoming the winemaker for Bodini, José was a winemaker at Zemlia, a small family-run winery in the Maipu region of Mendoza. In 2011, after spending three years under the tutelage of one of Argentina’s top winemakers (his mom), she handed over the reins to the winemaking for Crios. As part of the Bodini team, José is committed to the company’s goal of increased sustainability throughout the winemaking process. The Bodini vineyards try to use the minimum amount of chemicals possible, as well as try to conserve precious natural resources.
